It's 300 mm wide, and they don't get much wider. Rollin' Custom Cycles gave Nathan Timm of Florida, the widest production tire for a street legal motorcycle. This is Timm's second Rollin' Custom Cycle.
At just over a foot wide and set on chrome rims, cause that's the way Timm wanted it. At 300 mm wide, it was a first for master builder Jeff Wanamaker.
"Firsts are what this business are all about," said Wanamaker, as he wiped off the last specks of dust off the 127 cu El Bruto motor. "Nathan likes his bikes big and fast well, he got'em both this time," Wanamaker continued.
Clean handlebars with pointed chrome grips, chrome rims, and a slammed lowered frame were just a few of the customs that Timm wanted. But the chain-drive right-side-drive, 6 speed tranny was the biggest hurdle for Wanamker to wrench over.
"The tire width alone is a difficult job, but add the spacing and aligning that a right-side drive adds, made this a fun build." Wanamaker explained. "No big deal," he continued. It's not a problem for Wanamaker, he takes every hurdle with a twist of a drill bit, and a flash of weld. "If it hasn't been done, Jeff will figure out how to do it," Timm followed.
Timm's first bike that Wanamaker built was rode over 6000 miles, never once with a problem. He wanted a new bike because in his words, it's got to be wider and faster. Almost like a drug, Wanamaker understands. "Who wouldn't want the fastest bike and a ride that gets the most looks. Why do people by Ferrari's?"
This Custom is not only wide but very long, over 8 feet in length. Wanamaker added, "I had to weld an extention, to the extention that came with the bike lift in the shop, just so I could build it."
Some of the features this bike has include:
-127 cu El Bruto Motor (150hp to rear wheel) with a right-side drive 6 speed tranny
-300 mm rear tire with custom strutless fender
-Chrome rims, forks and controls
-Custom marbled ghost flames paint
-Clean pointed custom handlebars
UPDATE:
As of Jan. 2006, Nathan Timm has logged over 1,500 miles cruising all over Flordia. Timm says that it gets alot of attention everwhere he goes. Rollin' would like to point out that he has had NO major issues (like every Rollin Custom). He has blown a headlight bulb, probably from the 150 horses...but we don't think that is a problem...that's called fun.
